SOFTWARE LICENCE
End User Licence Agreement
This agreement governs installation and use of the Paper Bark desktop software.
Last updated: 4 October 2026
1. Agreement
By downloading, installing, activating or using Paper Bark, you agree to this End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”). If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.
Paper Bark is operated from Na Luzci 693/2, 160 00 Praha, Czechia. Questions may be sent to info@paperbark.eu.
2. Licence grant
Subject to payment, this EULA and the applicable purchase terms, Paper Bark grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the software for your own lawful screenwriting and production-related work.
Unless the purchase page states otherwise, a single-user licence may be activated on one supported device at a time. The licence is not a sale of the software or its source code.
3. Trial
Paper Bark may provide a 7-day trial. A trial is for evaluation only, may require an account and online licence checks, and ends automatically when its stated period expires. The current trial does not automatically convert into a paid licence; a paid licence requires a separate purchase.
4. Account, activation and licence checks
Use of Paper Bark may require a Paper Bark account, a valid email address and online activation. Paper Bark may process account, licence, device or installation identifiers and licence-validation events to confirm that a licence is genuine and used within its permitted device limit.
You must not share licence credentials, bypass activation, falsify device information or use technical measures intended to defeat licence controls.
5. Permitted and prohibited use
You may use Paper Bark to create, edit, store, import, export and manage screenplay projects for lawful personal or professional purposes.
You may not, except where applicable law expressly permits it: copy or redistribute the software; sell, rent, sublicense or commercially share a licence; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software; remove ownership or copyright notices; circumvent security or licensing controls; use Paper Bark to infringe another person’s rights; or use the software or service to introduce malware or interfere with Paper Bark systems.
6. Ownership of Paper Bark
Paper Bark and its licensors retain all rights in the application, source code, user interface, trademarks, graphics, documentation and related technology. This EULA grants only the right to use the software under these terms.
7. Your screenplay and creative work
You retain ownership of the screenplay, characters, dialogue, ideas and other creative content you create or import. Paper Bark does not obtain ownership of your screenplay merely because you use the software.
Projects stored locally remain on your computer unless you choose a feature that transmits them, such as optional cloud synchronisation, backup, restoration or a support request.
Paper Bark does not sell screenplay content and does not use screenplay content to train generative AI models unless a separate feature is introduced with clear notice and any choice or consent required by law.
8. Local storage, cloud sync and backups
Paper Bark is designed to store screenplay projects locally by default. Optional cloud synchronisation may transfer selected projects to Paper Bark’s cloud infrastructure to provide backup, restoration or supported-device continuity.
You remain responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important local work. No storage system is infallible, and you should keep independent copies of critical screenplay files.
9. Updates and compatibility
Paper Bark may provide updates, bug fixes or compatibility changes. Some updates may be required for continued compatibility, security or use of online features. Supported operating systems and technical requirements may change over time.
10. Third-party services
Certain functions may depend on third-party infrastructure or services, including hosting, cloud storage, payment processing and email delivery. Those services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
11. Refunds and termination
Refunds are governed by the Paper Bark Refund Policy and mandatory consumer law. If a licence is fully refunded, revoked for misuse, or otherwise lawfully terminated, your right to use the paid licence ends.
Paper Bark may suspend or terminate access to online or licence services for fraud, licence sharing, security abuse, unlawful conduct or material breach of this EULA, subject to applicable law.
12. Warranty and liability
Paper Bark is provided with the rights and warranties required by applicable law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with every third-party device or service, or that every loss of locally stored data can be recovered.
Nothing in this EULA excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded, or mandatory consumer rights.
13. Privacy
Personal data used for accounts, payments, licensing, support and optional cloud services is handled according to the Privacy Policy. Website technologies are described in the Cookie Policy.
14. Governing law
This EULA is governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available under the law of their country of residence where those protections apply.
